Responsive color picker

About the project

Jollyroom’s color picker was causing some serious problems. The original design used tiny dots to show product colors, which, let’s be honest, were about as easy to click as a single grain of rice.

Customers kept saying, “Is this yellow or just my screen being weird?” and the whole thing wasn’t exactly frustration-free for anyone. My job was to turn those frustrating dots into something people could actually use without squinting or rage-tapping.

Project execution

I started by testing the original design with users and it turned out, tiny dots and confusing colors were a headache for everyone! Working closely with developers, I redesigned the picker to be bigger, clearer, and friendlier for all devices.

We tested different versions, listened to feedback, and polished it until anyone could pick the right color in a tap. Right now, we’re still tweaking things behind the scenes (like squashing bugs) and crossing our fingers for that “publish” button.
